Preteckt is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer. You will be working in a tight, cross-discipline group of technical people to help maintain existing systems and design new data processing pipelines. Your work will involve pipelining our data coming off of vehicles into efficient storage solutions and through prognostic analysis software. You will be working closely with our tech team including Dev Ops, data science, and web development, so communication, flexibility, and good design principles are important.

The ideal candidate will have a strong algorithms and data structures foundation. They understand how to pipeline data through various stages of use (ingestion to storage to access to reduction to presentation). They understand how to design a system that scales horizontally and enjoy making core frameworks and internal tooling.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Python. Experience in other high level languages desired (C++, Java, Go)

  • Experience with relational & non-relational databases schema design, index strategy, querying, and performance tuning

  • Experience with big data and distributed computing

  • Experience with asynchronous data processing

  • Strong code organizational skills

  • Experience working with a git workflow

  • Demonstrated proficiency building distributed systems

  • Experience leading and teaching teams on best practices

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools and platforms (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

  • Experience with DAG-based pipeline processing tools such as airflow or luigi.

  • Conversant with security best practices

  • Familiarity with CI/CD and experience setting up deployment pipelines

  • Experience working with data in an HDF5 format

  • Familiarity with machine learning at a very high level
