A fast-growing company in Herndon, VA is looking to hire a full-time Software Engineer to support the development of a range of products. We offer complex engineering challenges, a top-notch work environment, and an experienced team of talented, tenured engineers. To qualify for this position, a candidate must have at least 4 years of software development experience working with real time applications. Successful candidates must be willing and able to obtain a security clearance; therefore, U. S. citizenship is required.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate in this position will perform many duties including the following:

  • Writing code and contributing to software solutions
  • Understanding how to apply new technologies in novel ways to solve complex problems
  • Participating in technical discussions and requirements development
  • Performing code reviews
  • Collaborating with team members
  • Assisting with software architecture design
  • Staying abreast of new and upcoming technologies

    REQUIREMENTS

    The candidate qualifying for this position will meet the following requirements:

  • Experience developing projects in a team base environment using GIT
  • Experience developing software in a Linux environment with C/C++ and BASH
  • Familiar with open source technologies and software and using GCC/GDB
  • Experience with systems working with real time data
  • Experience working with a defect tracking system such as Atlassian’s JIRA
  • Possess sound expertise of Computer Science fundamentals such as object-oriented design
  • Possess a solid understanding of computer networking
  • Able to profile and generate performance optimized software
  • Solid written and verbal communications and reporting skills

    Other skills of interest relevant to this position include:

  • Experience with microservice architecture design
  • Experience with build automation tools such as Jenkins
  • Experience developing applications using RESTful services, JSON, and WebSockets
  • Programming skills including GO, Python and JavaScript
  • Experience interfacing with databases such as Postgres or
  • Experience with systems working with radio applications

    Further the candidate must have and demonstrate the following personal qualities:

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work well both in groups and independently
  • Solid organization skills with an attention to detail

EDUCATION

The ideal candidate will have a BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or significant practical work related experience.
