About the role - 100% remote position within the U.S.

We are a remote, distributed team with a strong focus on working asynchronously and taking ownership. In your first week at Bravely, you can expect to build relationships with the team, learn how to ship a small feature or bugfix end-to-end, and begin to understand the application architecture. In your first 30 days, you can expect to have shipped several features, participated in code review, and contributed to architecture and design discussions. In your first 90 days, you will feel more comfortable owning a bigger feature from design to completion.

What you’ll do

    • Work closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to architect and implement new features.
    • Responsible for architecture, development, testing and scaling of the platform that powers Bravely.
    • Help define workflows and processes to ensure consistent code management, deployment, and performance.
    • Build out core new platform functionality to support our growing client base.
    • Maintain and take ownership of our mobile, api, and web platforms handling each aspect of our multi-sided platform.

About you

    • You have a minimum of 5 years of experience developing consumer-facing web applications, services, and/or APIs
    • You have strong Javascript experience and have worked with at least one modern front-end framework (React, Angular, Vue, etc.) in a production environment
    • You have built and maintained Ruby on Rails applications or worked with similar MVC frameworks in a production environment
    • You are proficient in fundamental web technologies including HTTP, SSL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON
    • You have a clear understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, SQLite, etc.)
    • You are proficient in Git for version control
    • You understand testing, profiling, and debugging practices
    • You might have a preference for front-end or back-end development, but you’re capable of working across the entire stack when necessary

Nice to have

    • You have experience with or interest in Amazon Web Services, including Elastic Beanstalk and RDS, or infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
    • You have developed distributed data processing systems or ETLs against large data sets
    • You have experience building and maintaining mobile applications
